Mr. Heideman served during World War II as a pilot in the Air Force.  He was stationed at
 Old Buckenham Base in England.  he trained on a PT-17 and flew a B-24 Liberator called the "Whiskey Jingles".  He was in the 8th Air Force, 453 Bomb Group, 733 Bomb Squadron.  He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  Mr. Heideman received the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, the World War II Victory Medal, and the European Theater Service Medal.  He completed 28 combat missions by the end of the war.  Mr. Heideman spent 23 years in the United States Air Force Reserves flying out of Wright Patterson Air Force Base
