Mr. Rahle enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was sent to Wheeler Field, Hawaii.  His assignment there was as a carpenter in base engineering.  He helped to make the wooden crates that were used to ship faulty plane parts going back for repair or replacement.  He was at Wheeler Base when Pearl Harbor was bombed.  He also served in Saipan.  Mr. Rayhle achieved the rank of Sergeant.
